There was a great article that came out about a week or so ago from Matthew Yglesias, who's not somebody I usually agree with, but he wrote an article saying it's time to throw Biden under the bus. And obviously that headline is gonna catch my attention because I wanted to know where he was going with this. And he actually makes a lot of really great points in there, for starters talking about the age factor, obviously. How, yes, it was hidden from the public how bad cognitively he was. And Yglesias admits, listen, I was one of those people that defended him up until the debate.
He did. When I saw this article and I remembered that. I'm going, man, you had enough sense to know this guy's senile, he's demented and here you are defending him. But now he says, look what we we've created, I mean, he's done, buddy you talk about a full circle. Now he actually calls it the Biden Harris stink. That's how strong the words he used, the Biden Harris stink. In here he says, what were the parts of that? What happened? More importantly, can we pull out of it? And we've done this story before. You get to a point to where it's almost cliche. I'm seeing story after story, the Democratic party can't dig their way out of this. The moves they're making now don't indicate they even understand how to dig their way out of it. I'm seeing story after story and with actually good presentation. It's not just a headline. It's where they're using the same talking points that clearly lost, you know, made a demographic change, age change, race change, gender change, all of these demographic changes.
Democrats lost in every single vote.
They did.
They lost ground in every single voting group in 2024. All, every one of them. Not most of them, not some of them. Every single demographic the Democrats lost ground. And as Yglesias shows you, he's got that great graph there, the Republicans are already leading for 2026, by big numbers.
Exactly. No, this graph that you're talking about, what I love, they lost, he got the statistics on this. Laid it out. They lost on border security. Democrats lost, big time, like 21 points on border security. They lost on crime by almost 12 points. They lost on the economy by nine points. They lost on the cost of living by eight points. Threats to democracy, they even lost on threats to democracy. That was their major talking point. But it was so poorly presented, Farron. It was like Nazis, fascists. They're coming to take you. Look under your bed. The fascists are there. It was like a home alone scene where you had these absolute nutcases that were devising the optics for the Democratic party and it scared the hell out of the American public. And so what he's saying in this article is that there is this thing called, he calls it the Biden Harris stink. And he doesn't know that it's easily corrected. What's your take?
Well, and the problem is the Democrats had the opportunity to correct it this past weekend. They didn't.
Good point.
They pick a mealy mouthed, centrist, corporatist new person to run their party, Ken Martin. And I didn't know a lot about Ken Martin before this, so obviously had to look him up, but nothing impressive. Now, co-chair, or actually not co-chair, but vice-chair David Hogg, young guy, huge activist, insanely smart and energetic. Love that. Love that. But Ken Martin at the helm, you guys just made the same mistakes you've been making for years now, by not picking someone who is a little more youthful, maybe somebody who understands, you know what, why don't we talk about issues? Because Ken Martin came out on Saturday and said, all right, here's our vision for the Democratic Party, race, I forget the second thing because it was stupid and Trump. Those are the three things.
No, it was DEI.
