Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, the owner of the Los Angeles Times, shares concerns about the COVID-19 vaccine with Dr. Drew. Soon-Shiong has been involved in controversies regarding the newspaper's editorial stance, blocking endorsements in the 2020 and 2024 presidential elections. In November 2024, the Los Angeles Times fired its entire editorial board, with plans to replace them with a new team. Soon-Shiong has expressed his desire to create a "fair and balanced newspaper" and include more conservative voices in the paper's opinion section. In December 2024, he announced that the Los Angeles Times would employ an AI-powered bias meter in its coverage.
