Birds might appear to some as strange pets to have. They aren’t one of the first things you think of when someone talks about household pets, that usually goes to cats and dogs. Most of the things you expect to do with a pet, you can’t do with a pet bird. Some things that come to mind are cuddling your animal or holding it, playing fetch, and walking it. Birds usually stay in their cage and although you can rub their head or pat them, you can’t really cuddle them and hold them like you would a dog or cat. In fact, most people would be quite bothered by their constant chirping and noise making, while others love the singing of birds! In this video, it seems the little baby doesn’t seem to mind the bird’s singing and maybe it even helps put it to sleep!

The bird in this video, a cockatiel, is a very common pet bird type. It is actually an Australian parrot known for being cuddly and bold. It is a very social companion bird and a very ideal one as a pet since it lives a long life and stays relatively small. Birds are much easier to tend to and clean up after than having a usual household pet. Birds live in a cage, any mess made is in the cage, and they definitely cost less than looking after a dog or a cat. If you can put up with the constant chirping, a bird might be a great companion for you! Cockatiels are actually known for their whistling and singing, especially males who are known to sing to serenade a mate. Often these cockatiels are singing or whistling to their favorite person or someone they care about, their own self in the mirror, or maybe an object or thing they enjoy.

Maybe the young baby in this video has made a lasting impression on this cockatiel! The bird is definitely giving the sleeping baby a lot of whistles. Cockatiels are often being cuddling type birds who love snuggling. This cockatiel even shows off its cuddling skills in this video. As the baby is drifting to sleep, this cockatiel leans in close to it while its whistling and gives it some snuggling on its nose! They must have a great relationship! We bet the bird and the baby have gotten really close and that’s why the cockatiel is giving it goodnight kisses!

As the baby lays down and drifts to bed, the cockatiel continues to whistle. After giving some kisses, it leans back and continues to lull the baby to sleep. At one point, the baby looks like it is about to start crying but is quickly put at ease by the bird. This seems like it could be something this pair does often. The baby gets ready for a nap and the cockatiel helps its new friend have a nice nap! Although birds might not be the most popular pets, they can still offer great companionship and some great moments. That baby must be having a great nap!
