### **Instructions:**
#### **1. Cook the Mong Dal:**
1. Wash the **mung dal** thoroughly and drain.
2. In a saucepan, add the **mung dal** and **water**. Cook on medium heat for **5-7 minutes** or until the dal is soft but not mushy. Drain any excess water and set aside.
#### **2. Prepare the Halwa:**
1. In a separate pan, heat **ghee** on medium heat.
2. Add the cooked **mung dal** and sauté it in the ghee for **2-3 minutes**, allowing it to absorb the ghee.
3. Add **milk** and cook, stirring continuously, until the mixture thickens (about **5-7 minutes**).
4. Add **sugar**, **cardamom powder**, and **saffron strands** (if using). Stir well and cook for another **5-7 minutes** until the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.
#### **3. Garnish & Serve:**
1. Once the halwa reaches a thick consistency, remove it from heat.
2. Add **rose water** for extra flavor, if desired.
3. Garnish with **chopped almonds** and **pistachios** for a crunchy contrast.
