DOGE Isn’t Serious About Cutting Federal Spending

We keep hearing all these reports from DOGE about all the ridiculous line items from USAID spending like $1.5 million to advance DEI in Serbian workplaces, $70,000 for the production of a DEI musical in Ireland, $47,000 for a trans opera in Colombia, $32,000 for a trans comic book in Peru, etc., etc., and, look, don’t get me wrong, I hate government spending, and USAID is arguably the worst federal spending we do, but hear me out: As much as I think it’s absolutely plausible that we’ve been spending on ridiculous sh*t like that, is there any chance these line items are just totally made up to cover up the much more sinister crimes that were potentially committed with that money? You know, like, overthrowing governments and sponsoring terrorist organizations like we did in Lybia and like we’re basically doing in Syria now. And, honestly, it’s smart: I mean, if you’re the federal government, how’s anyone gonna verify your claims? You are the verification of the claims. Just make up some crazy sh*t and make it sound super woke and nobody even questions it. Idk man I’m just tired of acting like DOGE is actually making any substantive difference on federal spending: We just recently carved out another billion dollars to Israel, Trump just promised to “own” Gaza which really just means we’re gonna end up being responsible for all the federal spending required to rebuild it, also known as your tax dollars taken out of your paycheck and spent without your permission on whatever the government wants. I mean, look, if Trump was serious about slashing federal spending, we’d immediately cut almost foreign aid (for example, we’ve been sending Israel on average $10,000,000 every single day for years, even before October 7th), and we’d close down our hundreds of military bases that we have in over a hundred countries and we’d bring all those soldiers home— I mean, we’ve got an embassy in Iraq bigger than the Vatican, folks. America is an empire, plain and simple. Even with all this news about cutting USAID spending, they’re not even slashing the department, they’re just transitioning it to be under the State Department instead, so I highly doubt its main purpose of sustaining America’s status as a global empire will be going away any time soon, and, of course, sustaining an empire is very, very expensive, both financially and morally.
