CNN Host Left Even More Apoplectic By GOP Rep. Tim Burchett After Raging Over Defunding Of USAID

Posted • February 8, 2025: Another GOP politician has signed on to the mission currently underway by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and Elon Musk, at the direction of President Trump, to right the ship of state that was unapologetically rammed into iceberg after iceberg by the Biden administration since Jan. 2021. Among those federal government entities getting dismantled by the DOGE whirlwind is the US Agency for International Development (USAID). And when the USAID's entrenched bureaucrats tried to thwart their efforts to clean things up for the American people exactly one week ago--by locking engineers out of the headquarters--Trump didn't stand by in silence. On Saturday night, Trump decided it was a good time to mete out some more consequences for the uncooperative rebels:

Two top security officials at the US Agency for International Development were put on administrative leave Saturday night after refusing to allow officials from Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency to access systems at the agency, even after DOGE personnel threatened to call law enforcement, multiple sources familiar told CNN. Personnel from the Musk-created office physically tried to access the USAID headquarters in Washington, DC, and were stopped. The DOGE personnel demanded to be let in and threatened to call US Marshals to be allowed access, two of the sources said. The latest sign of strengthening support among Republicans for Pres. Trump's plans came on Saturday, near the tail-end of a sit-down interview with Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) on CNN. For whatever reason, the failing network's producers thought it would be acceptable for the CNN host to stand in as a mouthpiece for the left's white-hot anger over what DOGE is doing.

Burchett, who sits on the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, and whose X bio describes him as a "fiscally conservative Republican," shuts her down with a few doses of reality. Rep. Tim Burchett just joined with Trump in calling for USAID to be completely ABOLISHED! "The USAID has been a complete ripoff of the American taxpayer. Shut it down." Regroup the the system so that if the farmers are doing legitimate work, then they should get legitimate pay." - "American taxpayers should not be in charge of policing or feeding the world. We need to take care of our own first." His first straight answer was solid: "The USAID has been a complete ripoff of the American taxpayer. Shut it down." That's when the anchor ratchets up the feels meter, asking about aid getting taken away from the poor, innocent farmers. (…)
