**Ingredients:**
*For the Walnut Cake:*
- 4 large eggs (room temperature)
- ¾ cup caster sugar
- ¾ cup cooking oil
- ¼ cup full cream milk
- ⅓ cup all-purpose flour (maida), sifted
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 cup desiccated coconut
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
*For the Sugar Syrup:*
- ¾ cup caster sugar
- 1 cup hot water
- ½ teaspoon lemon juice
*For the Cream Custard:*
- 750 ml full cream milk
- 3 tablespoons cornflour
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (maida)
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- ½ cup whipping cream
- Desiccated coconut (for garnish)
- Chopped walnuts (for garnish)
- Strawberries (for garnish)
**Instructions:**
1. **Prepare the Walnut Cake:**
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking dish and line it with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, beat the eggs and caster sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- Add the cooking oil and full cream milk to the egg mixture, and mix well.
- Sift together the all-purpose flour, breadcrumbs, desiccated coconut, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
- Fold in the vanilla essence and chopped walnuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for approximately 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and allow it to cool completely.
2. **Prepare the Sugar Syrup:**
- In a saucepan, combine the caster sugar and hot water. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Add the lemon juice and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and allow it to cool to room temperature.
3. **Prepare the Cream Custard:**
- In a saucepan, whisk together the full cream milk, cornflour, all-purpose flour, and sugar until smooth.
- Place the saucepan over low heat, stirring continuously, until the mixture thickens to a custard-like consistency (approximately 6-8 minutes).
- Remove from heat and mix in the vanilla essence. Allow it to cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, fold in the whipping cream until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
4. **Assemble the Kıbrıs Tatlısı:**
- Once the walnut cake has cooled, poke holes all over the surface using a wooden skewer.
- Slowly pour the prepared sugar syrup over the cake, ensuring it is absorbed evenly.
- Spread the cream custard evenly over the soaked cake.
- Sprinkle desiccated coconut and chopped walnuts on top for garnish.
- Refrigerate the dessert for at least 2-3 hours, or until it is well chilled.
5. **Serve:**
- Cut into desired slices and garnish with fresh strawberries.
- Serve chilled and enjoy this delightful Kıbrıs Tatlısı!
