Two killed as small plane crashes into bus on busy road in Brazilian city of São Paulo

A small plane crashed onto a busy road in São Paulo, Brazil, on Friday, colliding with a bus and killing at least two people.

The crash occurred around 7:20 a.m. local time on Avenida Marquês in the coastal district of Barra Funda.

Two passengers on the plane were burned to death, while six others, including a motorcyclist and a bus passenger, were injured by debris.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash.

Footage showed thick black smoke and flames engulfing the highway.

The twin-engine King Air plane, en route to Porto Alegre, lost contact with the control tower shortly after taking off from Campo de Marte Airport.

The aircraft crashed less than three miles from its departure point.

Witnesses described panic as bus passengers scrambled to escape.

Emergency crews, including firefighters and traffic personnel, responded to the scene, CNN has reported.

São Paulo Mayor Ricardo Nunes expressed his condolences and assured support for the victims.
