Richard Medhurst Arrested AGAIN For Being ‘Wrong Kind’ Of Journalist!

Right, so the honourable profession of journalism – at least it is amongst those who do it properly - is getting criminalised again, telling the truth becoming increasingly criminalised, only this time around it is not happening here in the UK, but it is another right wing led nation possibly doing the UKs dirty work for them, on even more of a power trip than previously thought behind it all the same. Keeping the public informed, telling truth to power and holding it to account, we know bad journalism when we see it as well as anybody can in the UK, as we suffer from more than our fair share of establishment shills passing themselves off as the real deal, but that isn’t to say we don’t have some truly excellent individuals and media outlets who are worthy of being called journalist and increasingly this is becoming proven by which outlets have been targeted by the police and which journalists have ended up being arrested, because if you’re prepared to use terror legislation to silence voices speaking truth to power, you’re a fascist and whilst we’ve seen that happen here in the UK to one of our best and brightest, this same individual has now been targeted in Austria too.
Richard Medhurst, following his arrest here in the UK under Section 12 of the Terrorism Act, for basically reporting the reality going on in the Middle East, our terror laws so loose it takes just a simple complaint to trigger an arrest, has now been targeted it in Austria, either encouraged by Starmer’s heavy-handedness or as Medhurst himself suspects, having been put up to it by the UK.
It isn’t enough anymore for arrests to be made in the UK of journalists and activists, but now it seems they can follow you anywhere and if Britain is behind this second arrest of Medhurst, then it says a lot of just how far Starmer’s devotion to Israeli interests really goes.
Right, so British Middle East independent journalist Richard Medhurst has been arrested again, it can only be down to his excellent, honest and no holds barred ongoing reporting on the situations in Gaza and Lebanon and elsewhere, because the truth is a crime now in Starmer’s Britain. Since his arrest there has been the arrest of Sarah Wilkinson, the raid on the home of Asa Winstanley of Electronic Intifada, the arrest and charging of jersey based peace activist Natalie Strecker, but now we’re back to Medhurst again, this time arrested on bogus pretences in Vienna, Austria, where he has based himself.
Medhurst had received a letter from the Austrian government, allegedly from immigration, asking him to attend an interview concerning his residency and when he got there it culminated in threats being made against him to revoke his residency based on his reporting of the goings on in Gaza and Lebanon, this was then followed by agents from the Austrian equivalent of MI5 coming in and detaining Medhurst, together with a search warrant to search Medhurst’s home. On the pretext of what you might ask? They literally accused Medhurst of being a member of Hamas. You are literally more likely to watch Keir Starmer ooze a droplet of charisma than see Medhurst, a Christian, the son of Nobel Prize winning Christian missionaries no less, join the ranks of a terror organisation of a completely different faith, with its own track record of Christian persecution actually and in point of fact if it were at all true, not in a million years would he have flown back to Britain last August for any reason, knowing he’d be arrested for that as he legitimately would, let alone to take part in a politics debate about the Middle East, with the likes of Jeremy Corbyn, David Miller, Craig Murray and others at The Levellers Beautiful Days Festival last year!
Medhurst had been arrested at Heathrow airport under Section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000. Reporting honestly the situation in the Middle East is now a terrorist offence apparently, because that is all Medhurst has done, but under the terms of the law he was detained under, he was arrested for allegedly ‘expressing an opinion or belief that is supportive of a proscribed organisation.’ That is what the charge was at the time.
Now let that one just sink in a moment – expressing an opinion that might be construed as supportive of a proscribed organisation. Thought police as this is and yet this crime carries a potential jail sentence of some 14 years! Think about it. The laws you thought were designed to keep you safe from terror attacks are now being used to prevent you from learning the truth about what is going on in the world depending on whether or not it is being committed by an ally of our government, indeed covering up possible terrorism our government could potentially be involved in itself and that same government is trying to stop us learning about the role it might be playing in that and when we think about all the arms sales and the political cover and the intelligence flights from Cyprus and the refusal to call the Gaza genocide a genocide
Which if they did, and apparently Starmer and Co are trying to redefine this, could implicate themselves when the evidence seems to be there already.
Now the reason I’ve chosen to refresh your memory about that incident and the details of it, as incredulous and ridiculous as they are, is because Medhurst has been informed in the last week that the UK police are extending their investigation, they are not letting him go despite there being absolutely nothing to charge him with, all he has done is tell the truth and report it as it happens. That, when it is counter to the governments preferred narrative is tantamount to a crime therefore.
In Austria his home was ransacked, devices were seized, they did the same to his studio, he had to watch as they not only seized equipment, but took it apart in front of him, but because of the timing of this arrest and the timing of the Uk police extending their investigation, Medhurst strongly suspects the UK have put Austria up to this, Medhurst basing himself in Vienna puts him out of their direct reach, so if they can force the revocation of his residency there, Medhurst flies back to Britain, will he be arrested again? It will be very interesting if any of the equipment and items seized from Medhurst end up in the hands of British police won’t it? Reinforcing that thinking was that when Medhurst was talking to the techs trying to crack his devices – Medhurst would not give up his passwords to protect his sources as he has a professional and ethical right to do, but was charged by UK police for refusing to do that here – they mentioned if they can’t crack them, then they send them outside to other agencies and you can just absolutely see it happening that they end up here can’t you?
Journalism is not terrorism. Terrorism is razing a piece of land you occupy to the ground north to south resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands of people. Terrorism is seizing hostages. Reporting on such events is not, but here in the UK, unless you are on the same side as the Starmer government, it seems you are and it very much seems other nations like Austria are more than happy to assist the UK in such abuses of power, abuses the UN has written to Starmer and Co over, demanding they stop using lawfare against journalists just doing their job, a letter sent last December, that has gone completely ignored, because Starmer doesn’t listen to anyone it seems who isn’t bringing financial backing with them, the human rights lawyer now being warned as a politician against abusing human rights, but that is a story for another video though.
Medhurst has been stopped from working, he was writing a book whilst his work had already been interrupted as a result of his arrest in the UK, but the Austrian agents took that as well, apparently manuscript counts as an electronic device under an Austrian search warrant, so having managed to get a video cobbled together out of what he had available, please go and watch his video which goes into a lot more detail than mine has on this story, I’ve linked to it in this video rather than posting other videos of mine to view on this occasion and there are also funding links to help Richard out, which I’d appreciate anyone with the means to assist him please consider doing as opposed to a superthanks on this video on this occasion.
