Members of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee spoke to reporters amid a closed-door briefing from the National Transportation Safety Board on the collision between a military helicopter and passenger jet that resulted in 67 deaths. The chair and ranking member of the committee, Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Maria Cantwell (D-WA), were asked about the possibility of Elon Musk having a role in modernizing air traffic control systems. Sen. Cruz said he agreed with the proposal, but Sen. Cantwell said it presented a conflict of interest. Sen. Moran (R-KS) also weighed in, saying the investigation into the incident should be completed first
