Steven Tripp is joined Miki Nguyen, who survived the overthrow of Saigon by the North Vietnamese military in April 1975.

In a desperate attempt to save his family, Nguyen Van Ba, Miki’s father, commandeered a military chinook and flew it out of Saigon and to a nearby American naval ship, the USS Kirk. Hovering above the ship, Miki’s family jumped aboard, before his father threw himself out of the chinook before it crashed into the water.

The ‘ditch’ moment became so famous that it was featured in the Oscar-nominated film, ‘Last Days in Vietnam’.

Miki tells the story of that day and details how he and his mother complied the recent book, ‘The Last Flight Out’ based off his father’s memoirs.

Miki tells us how he felt at the time as a 6-year-old boy and what impacts the events had on his life. Miki also discusses the current conflicts in the World today, whether the Vietnam war achieved anything and his own personal experience at the US Capiton on January 6.
