President Donald Trump has used the threat of heavy tariffs on some nations as an effective diplomatic tool, especially when it comes to getting nations to work with his administration's new deportation of criminal illegal aliens policy. Critics, however, say the president's threats of tariffs as a go-to negotiating tactic could have adverse effects on the U.S. economy, at least in the short term.
