The pendulum has been swinging back to center, but we don't quite have balance in the Force just yet. The culture war is still fizzling in some places, and it's still likely to be a few years before we really get back to a mode where the story comes before the ideology. Some pockets of resistance will remain for a while.

Case in point: The Self-Published Science Fiction Competition, which posted a code of conduct just a day before announcing they'd banned an author for violating same. And that has a lot of people asking questions which the SPSFC isn't answering. But it's hinky.

And Hollywood is doing a lot of self-reflection in the wake of the 2024 election, and there's a discussion now about how to adapt in the era of Trump 47.
