In 1955, Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her bus seat, igniting the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Two years later, in 1957, Elizabeth Eckford of the ‘Little Rock Nine’ walked through an angry white mob to attend her first day of school. These two moments, captured in powerful photographs, became symbols of the Civil Rights Movement.
