Off the jump, David Benavidez got the win. That’s what matters most. He weathered a bit of the storm that David Morrell hoped to show at the beginning of the fight and started to chip away at the Cuban boxer. Now, David Benavidez is putting together a resume that makes him seem like a legitamate contender against Artur Beterbiev or Dmitrii Bivol.

Even though he lost, David Morrell looked fairly good against David Benavidez. He was giving David Benavidez some trouble but couldn’t rise to the occasion. Al that with just 11 fights under his belt. Don’t count David Morrell out. He can become world champion.

With Artur Beterbiev and Dmitrii Bivol rematching in a couple weeks, David Benavidez will likely be in attendance to see who he gets next. A shot at undisputed champion doesn’t come around all that often. Can David Benavidez rise to the occasion against two pound for pound greats?
