CNN Contributor Calls Republicans Cowards — Will Vote For Kavanaugh Anyway

Speaking Wednesday on CNN Newsroom, the network’s legal analyst singled out Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN), Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ), and Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE). The three senators have all talked a big game against the president. But Toobin called them out for having voting records which don’t match up with their rhetoric.

“You have these senators who pretend that they are independent,” Toobin said. “Jeff Flake, Bob Corker, Ben Sasse. But they’re all cowards. They all always wind up voting with trump. They’ll wind up voting with him here.”

The numbers seem to back up Toobin’s point. According to Fivethirtyeight, Corker, Flake, and Sasse all vote with Trump approximately 85 percent of the time.

“I think we need to look at what senators do as opposed to what they say,” Toobin said. “All this posturing and supposed independence from Trump, it all melts away when they have to vote.”
