Quinton Sithole, a third-year drama student at the Durban University of Technology (DUT), has highlighted the dire consequences of late allowances for students. He explains that many students are forced to study on empty stomachs, which leads to poor focus and increases the risk of academic exclusion. Despite limited support from DUT’s SRC, many students only receive their meal allowances months into the academic year. Sithole urges NSFAS to ensure payments are finalized before registration to prevent these ongoing challenges.
