New calf and first milking

We have been waiting for 3 months to have fresh milk again! And soon we will. I thought for sure Rue would have this calf a week ago, but no she waiting to the evening before her due date.

He is tiny. He is half Angus and mixed jersey/guernsey. We aren't completely sure what we will do with him yet. But for now, we will enjoy the baby stage he is in.

Don't be surprised if it takes several milkings for her bag to get soft. It's normal. And it will also take a few days (3ish) for the colostrum to leave and milk to come in. She will also increase how much milk comes before she slowly drops again.
