On January 25, 2025, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa signed a bill into law that allows the government to expropriate private land without compensation. The new law, known as the Expropriation Act, 2020, permits the state to take the land or property of an individual "for public purposes or in the public interest". This is similar to Eminent Domain or Compulsory Purchase, except The Act specifies that it may be "just and equitable for nil compensation to be paid under certain circumstances".

Afrikaner farmer Johannes Agenbach, the founder and leader of the South African political group The Free-Citizen Movement, speaks to the Based Canadians about the current situation in South Africa.
