RowdyTV 002 - Pac-Man Ads from the early 80s
RowdyTV highlights short clips of television or advertisements from the past that both tickle and scratch the nostalgic section of your brain.
Pac-man was a part of growing up for Gen X and we still have fond memories of the dot gobbling character. Featured in the second RowdyTV video is three ads from the early 80s that are based on the Pac-Man franchise.
- Milton Bradley Pac-Man Board Game Ad (1982): Did you know that MB sold a Pac-Man Board Game that had marbles and plastic ghosts with Pac-Man player pieces that gathered up the marbles? I know this firsthand as we had this game when I was younger.
- 7UP Pac-Man Commercial (1982): You'll be hard pressed to find an ad that feels more like the 80s than this one, complete with classic CGI by Robert Abel using the sprites from the game along with a catchy rewrite of Kim Carnes' "Bette Davis Eyes".
- Atari Ms. Pac-Man Ad (1983): The opening to this commercial brings back memories of those cringey tropes of locker-room talk from that time frame. Apparently the "most exciting woman" that Joey is talking about is none other than Ms. Pac-Man for the Atari 2600.
