Welcome one and all to Pacific414 Pop Talk for Sunday February 2, 2025!

Well, it's that time of year...again. A time of year where like every year on this date, we rely on a furry rodent who lives underground to let us mere mortal humans here on the surface world know whether or not old man winter will get an early boot in favor of green grass and spring flowers or if the winter freeze will stick around for six more weeks.

How does this one particular rodent do this? Does he lift a finger in the air to tell which direction the wind is going? No. Does the rodent visit a fortune teller who can foresee the future? Unfortunately no, crystal balls can only forecast fog.

No, this rodent who is known as Punxsutawney Phil, Staten Island Chuck or it's species name that is quite commonly known as groundhog simply determines a longer winter or early arrival of spring on the concept of seeing the sight of it's very own shadow.

That's right, it's shadow which is why we invite you to join us today to watch the 1993 Bill Murray comedy classic "Groundhog Day" as we watch Phil Connors, a cynical television weatherman who finds himself trapped in a time loop, reliving February 2nd repeatedly in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.

The movie also features Rita played by Andi MacDowell, a news producer assigned to travel with Phil and cameraman Larry, played by Chris Elliot to cover the festivities in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.

This film is a comedy classic with a story written by Danny Rubin and Harold Ramis. Harold Ramis also served as director for this film with a voiceover cameo as well.

Let's all sit back, relax and enjoy this great movie together!
