3rd Day 1st Test at Galle International Stadium Dt:-29th January, 2025.
Sri Lanka resuming from overnight score of 44 runs for 3 wickets went on to score 136 runs for 5 wickets before the day's play was called off due to rain.
Earlier in the day Mitchell Starc took the first wicket of the day Kamindu Mendis caught by Alex Carrey and he contributed only 15 runs.
Captain Dhananjay de Silva was second to go in the day after making 22 runs stump by Alex Carey of the bowling of Matthew Kuhnemann.
The lunch was taken at Sri Lanka 136 for 5 wickets and rain started.
The play was called off due to persistent rain and the play could not resume after lunch with both the 2nd and 3rd sessions completely washed off. Only 27 overs of play was possible today.
Dinesh Chandimal completed his 31st test half century and is batting on 63 runs with Kusal Mendis not out on 10 runs. Both have so far added 29 runs for the 6th wicket. With this last recognized pair batting there are lot of efforts required from them.
Sri Lanka is still trailing behind by 518 runs.
