Moderna/FDA hid child death during booster trial from public | Alex Berenson

A healthy child between the ages of 2–5 died in Moderna's "KidCOVE" COVID jab trial in 2022/2023 and both Moderna and the FDA "sat on it."

Alex Berenson (@AlexBerenson) explains for Children's Health Defense (@ChildrensHD)—

"In late 2022, there was an effort to get kids as well as everybody else boosted, or, in some cases, initially vaccinated. They hadn't been vaccinated earlier with what were called Omicron-specific mRNA vaccines; that is vaccines where the genetic information was designed to encode for the Omicron spike, not the older wild-type spike as it's called or any other variant. And so at this time, Moderna was conducting a part of its clinical trial, a major clinical trial called KidCOVE, and KidCOVE included about 12,000 children, of ages 6 months to 12 years who had gotten most of them had gotten the vaccine. Some of them had gotten the placebo.

"That was again in 2021. And in 2022, they continued and extended the trial because they wanted to show that the booster would work better than the original vaccine formulation against this new variant. And at some point in late 2022, perhaps early 2023, a child died in this clinical trial. The child was under 5, almost certainly between 2 and 5, and was either American or Canadian because those are the only places the trial was conducted, most likely American, and...the KidCOVE trial was designed to enroll healthy children.

"I mean, that doesn't mean he was it was a kid who's gonna be an Olympic athlete, but, broadly, a healthy child died. And so Moderna didn't disclose this at the time. They never disclosed it in any reports they published on the trial. And, in fact, they wrote very cleverly about the trial in a way that allowed them not to have to disclose the death, which is something that I wrote about in a follow-up story a couple of days ago. And one question that we have is or that I have is is, did they tell the FDA about this? And they and they almost certainly did. In fact, I will now say they did.

"And the reason that I'll say that is FDA didn't really wanna answer my questions about this, initially, the first round of questions. And I followed up with them, and I hammered them. I said, 'Look. You know, there's gonna be there's gonna be a new boss of HHS. There's gonna be a new boss of the FDA. Are you sure that you wanna stonewall me this way? And they continued to stonewall me, but they did essentially give me a second statement that let me put it this way. They don't deny that there was a death in the trial or that they know about.

"Now how did I find out about this death? I found out about it because Moderna has disclosed this publicly in one place in the world, as far as I can tell, which is, there's a European drug regulatory agency. And in the United States, clinical trial results are supposed to be published on a website that's run by the NIH. And, essentially, that website has no teeth. If you don't publish the results, they're gonna do very little to to force you to publish them. [But] because the European equivalent of the FDA runs their version of this website, there's more teeth. Right? You could actually if you're the drug company, face consequences like, oh, maybe you don't get to sell your drug or vaccine in the future. So the companies are a little bit more, I think, serious about or responsive about the deadlines that they face.

"And Moderna sent the trial results that included this death to the European regulators, earlier, I think in the middle of last year, the middle of 2024. And I believe in September, the trial results were posted including this death. And that's where I found the trial results. And so it's still not anywhere in the United States. It still hasn't disclosed in any publication. It's almost certain the FDA knew about it because if they were telling the European regulators, they were gonna tell the FDA too.

"The FDA seems to have done nothing about this. And, of course, this was at a time you know, almost no kids are getting the COVID shots now because parents have finally figured out that their you know, mRNA is not something they wanna be exposing their kids to. But two years ago, this was still an active, you know, an active issue, and millions of kids got those shots in the fall and winter of 2022. And I think they would have liked to have known this. And I'm not gonna say it's criminal. There's a lot of things that people do that are bad that are not criminal, but it's certainly, unethical to my mind that this was not disclosed anywhere.

"I'll say one other thing, which is that Moderna claimed in its submission to the Europeans that it had found that the death was not related to the vaccine. But we have no idea how it made that determination, what other underlying facts there are. We don't even know the, you know, the gender of the child, the race of the child, the age of the child, where this happened, how many days or weeks after the shot it occurred. We just know the child died and they sat on it and FDA sat on it."
