1 dead, 1 badly injured in Independence shooting

Independence police said they are investigating a homicide at the Cedar Brooke Apartments on Quail Creek Drive. Police spokesman Ofc. John Syme said police were called to the residential complex at about 4 a.m. on reports of a shooting. When officers got there, they found one victim dead and another with life-threatening injuries. That person was taken to a hospital.
