Why You Remember Feelings, Not Facts!
We remember emotional experiences more than facts because emotions activate the brain’s amygdala, which strengthens memory formation. When something makes us feel happy, sad, excited, or even scared, our brain sees it as important and stores it more effectively.
How It Works:
1. Emotion Triggers the Amygdala – This part of the brain signals to the hippocampus (responsible for memory) that the experience is important.
2. Stronger Connections – Emotional events create deeper neural connections, making them easier to recall.
3. Survival Mechanism – Our brain evolved to prioritize emotional memories because they help us learn from experiences, avoid danger, and connect with others.
That’s why you might forget a lecture full of facts but vividly remember an embarrassing moment from years ago. If you want people to remember something, make them feel it!
