Snipers of the "North" troop group in "free hunt" mode covertly destroy especially important targets, enemy manpower, supporting the combat work of Russian assault, motorized rifle and tank units in the border area of ​​the Kursk region. The Russian Ministry of Defense has published footage of combat work by snipers from the separate guards motorized rifle brigade of the North group of forces.

After receiving a combat mission, sniper pairs move to the area where the task will be carried out. Their targets are manpower, vehicles and light armored vehicles. In combat operations, servicemen of sniper units use various sniper rifles. Thanks to the caliber of standard weapons, snipers can hit targets located even behind the walls of buildings.

The soldiers work in pairs, covering each other. Snipers pay special attention to camouflage of the position and shot, since, despite the difficult terrain, minefields and shelling from the enemy, they work at close range. For this, the soldiers use thermal imaging capes and closed-type muzzle brakes-compensators, which disperse the sound of the shot and dampen the flash. Snipers are also assisted by modern sights, which allow increasing the effectiveness of shooting several times due to greater magnification, measuring the distance to the target, and an accurate rangefinder.

During combat operations, snipers are included in a combat unit or work independently at varying distances from the enemy, depending on the tasks assigned and the system and optics used. The hardest part of the job is the waiting, when you have to wait for the target for several hours or even days. The versatility of snipers in the course of special operation has been proven more than once. They can work as free hunters, scouts, spotters, and can stop the advance of enemy armored vehicles and manpower. Snipers also provide cover for the AGS mounted grenade launcher crews, who fire rapidly at enemy positions, adjusted and directed by a sniper observer.
