Lab-e-Shireen is a traditional Pakistani dessert known for its rich, creamy texture and vibrant appearance. Food Fusion offers a delightful recipe that combines custard, colorful vermicelli, fruits, and jelly. Here's a concise version of their recipe:
**Ingredients:**
- 1½ liters milk
- ½ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 5-6 tablespoons vanilla-flavored custard powder
- ½ cup boiled colored vermicelli
- 1 cup mango chunks
- 1 cup mixed fruit cocktail, drained
- Red and yellow jelly cubes
- ¼ cup chopped almonds
- ¼ cup chopped pistachios
- 200 ml cream
**Instructions:**
1. **Prepare Jelly:**
- Dissolve strawberry-flavored jelly powder in boiling water, add a teaspoon of china grass powder, mix well, pour into a flat dish, and let it set at room temperature. Once firm, cut into cubes.
- Repeat the process with mango-flavored jelly powder.
2. **Make Custard:**
- In a saucepan, bring milk to a boil.
- In a separate bowl, mix custard powder with a small amount of cold milk to form a smooth paste.
- Add this paste to the boiling milk, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
- Add sugar and continue cooking until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and let it cool.
3. **Assemble the Dessert:**
- Once the custard has cooled, add cream and whisk until well combined.
- Gently fold in the boiled colored vermicelli, mango chunks, mixed fruit cocktail, jelly cubes, chopped almonds, and pistachios.
4. **Serve:**
- Transfer the mixture to a serving dish.
- Garnish with additional jelly cubes, mango pieces, and nuts as desired.
- Chill in the refrigerator before serving.
