"Ghana's Head of State, Colonel Ignatius Acheampong called for an end to disputes in the Ada region of the country during a speech at the annual Ada Festival. The Colonel said Ghana would only prosper through self reliance and patriotic nationalism. He called on the people of the Ada region to settle any outstanding inter tribal disputes they might have and work hand in hand for the prosperity and progress of the country.

The Ghanaian Government has promised to restore the annual festival to its former glory. Heads of local tribes headed a procession into the main show grounds in Big Ada for an afternoon of speeches, song and dance. Colonel Acheampong said the Ada region had a big part to play in Ghana's future. He promised a new resthouse would be built, roads improved and hospital facilities increased.
