Did you know that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) doesn’t consider muzzleloaders a firearm? That’s right—these historical-style tools, known as black powder rifles, are in a category of their own and are NOT classified as firearms under federal law. Despite this, they have long earned their place in the hunting world, and Erik’s South Dakota adventure proves it. This video complies with all federal and state hunting regulations and promotes ethical and responsible hunting practices.

Armed with his CVA Optima and an Any Deer Mule Deer tag, Erik took on the challenge of harvesting his biggest mule deer yet. This hunt was one for the books—his second mule deer, his largest mule deer, and his first deer taken with a muzzleloader. Erik’s perseverance, skill, and respect for the outdoors all came together in an unforgettable moment as he dropped a true South Dakota stud.

Join us on this exciting adventure as we capture every step of Erik’s incredible hunt. From the challenges of using a muzzleloader to the ultimate success of harvesting a buck, this video highlights the thrill of the chase and the beauty of the wild.
