We are among a small set of creatures on the planet that includes cetaceans that are capable of reasoning, complex idea formation, and creating complex societies. However, unlike other reasoning species, humans have crude and destructive patterns of aberrant and destructive behavior that are not necessary for basic survival. We must ponder this malevolent behavior in the context of the ultimate survival of our species and the fragile nature within which we must continue to live. Will humanity survive its worst tendencies?
