The idea for the first event came over a few beers with a local group of people growing up in the are in the 80's when dødsing was a widespread activity, Since then it gradually disappeared, but with the increasing success of VM i Døds over the years, kids of all ages can be seen doing these jumps all over Norway every summer and the event has grown to host thousands of people in the audience, live broadcast on national TV and total online views exceeding 100 million."
