I will be scoring Lloyd Kaufman's latest movie "The Power Of Positive Murder" produced under the Troma Entertainment banner. While it contains many of the hallmarks of the Troma movies, it is a big departure as it is a film noir dark comedy done in the style of Sunset Boulevard.

This piece of music is my recreation of the Cole Porter cue that was "temped" in the Main Titles segment. I deconstructed the piece both by ear and by sheet music as this version I could not find any sheet music for but found plenty of the "broadway song version". matching. I bounced back and forth between other interpretations and performances (both vocal and instrumental) for the feel of the song and used the sheet music to build the composition in my DAW from scratch. Then the version used in the movie had a bunch of "decoration" and "flares" that the sheet music did not so I had to recreate that myself by ear.

The score itself will have a classic film noir element to it but I will try to approach it with a modern sensibility (like Goldsmith did on Chinatown) as the movie does take place in modern day, it's just filmed and treated like a 1940s or 50s film noir. from the camera work to the acting.

I want to thank David Henry McGhee for referring me to the production to submit myself as a candidate to become the composer on the movie. Also, I want to thank Lloyd Kaufman and TROMA for trusting this nobody to come aboard and join the family. It would be nice to score more projects of theirs after this one.

Enjoy!
