Home Inspection (February 2024)

Recording from February 16, 2024, 4 PM.
Henry, Andrew's APS worker, has arrived at his parents' house with the intention of seeing the conditions inside the home. Henry was prompted to visit after Andrew emailed him a number of photos taken inside the home.

1:03 – Henry asks Tom to see the downstairs bathroom (this is the bathroom Andrew uses and the one with a hole in the floor.)
3:32 – Andrew calls the police. Henry and Tom can be heard in the background.
13:20 "Mom's coming home and the upstairs is worse than downstairs." This may be the reason Andrew contacted Henry; he does not want his mother returning home and not for altruistic reasons.
22:21 – The police arrive.
26:00 – Henry: “There have been some clinicians who have said that Andy's faking his symptoms, faking his disorders, and that he's basically making all this up to get attention and to have people take care of him.”
32:50 - Henry says that he will not be calling the Health Department.
43:08 – Henry points out that Andrew has pretended to have mental health disorders in the past to get specific benefits through that diagnosis. He is referring to the numerous times Andrew has pretended to have schizophrenia. (“Can I have schizophrenia now?”)
44:05 – Henry: "Unfortunately, the behavior that you did, talking about different disorders, suggesting that you try to fake it, suggesting that you could effectively fake them, that behavior, the consequence of that is now clinicians are concerned that you are trying to fake it.”
44:48 – Henry describes the “idiot savant” trope as seen in the film "Rain Man," which is exactly what Andrew desires to be seen as.
