Day Trip: Back Country Road from Tamboril to Hwy 21

Well, welcome back for part two of our daily adventure, and we're glad you're in the backseat with us here. So, buckle up and let's head down the road. We said goodbye to those guys in the Jeeps from our first video, and they were cool. They invited us to have a beer and all that. But, you know, it was getting into the afternoon, and we didn't have enough time to do that. So, we kind of parted ways and started zigzagging, heading out to our cut road that's going to bring us back into the highway connecting Santiago, La Vega and the north coast. So, ride along with us, this was my first time on this road.

You know, it's funny because we’re going on 18 years here, and not all that long ago, we traveled 200,000 miles in this country, and that's a lot of driving. Now, of course, that's not all off-road and cut roads, that includes shopping and my real estate career showing people around and everything of that nature. But that still represents a fair number of miles.

It was a decent clear day as we’ve had nothing but rain for the past couple of months. So much for a garden and not just us, but for a lot of people.

This is a beautiful area, you know I still don't understand for the life of me why more people don't go out and enjoy these daily adventures. I'm certainly not saying going off-road or cut-roads in the middle of nowhere, but just even on the paved highways. There's so many great little restaurants and on these off-roads you see friendly Haitian farm help.

It’s just such a pleasurable experience to have such open space. Some of these climbs were steep, though, because understand, I got a leveler on this anti vibration device on the camera. So, when you're seeing half of my hood that's probably about, I'd say 12-degree grade, which is pretty steep.

Some of the valleys were spectacular and the road. It's not like it was a difficult road at all, but it was just a beautiful day to spend together and we're glad you're enjoying it with us. There were a couple of places we had to stop and do we go right or left? But anyway, it was just one of the many. My gosh, I mean, I've got over 600 different trails in my waypoints, and that's nothing compared to some of my friends.

I'll be looking forward to going real soon with a friend of mine, to a place called Divine Child on a back road, close to 18km, starting past Constanza, that will lead me into the heart of a Jarabacoa and we won't be touching the main road one time. My friends are telling me, Barry, you like your views, and we know what you like, we’re going to show you this one, so be sure you bring a camera. So, I'll be doing that.

In closing I’m looking forward to seeing more people and meeting new people. Anyway, we'll catch you on the other side of the trail, for now this is Barry in D.R.
