Luke 18:9-13, pride- the absence of humility
Proverbs 16:18-19, 21:24, 29:23, 14:3, 21:4, lack or absence of humility is the kind of pride that works against God

[1. pride is the cause for original sin]
1 John 2:16-17, Genesis 3:6, the lust of the flesh (the forbidden tree appeared good for consumption), the lust of the eyes (the forbidden tree looked pleasant), the pride of life (the forbidden tree appeared to offer power and wisdom)
Ezekiel 28:14-15, blameless until iniquity was found, and that iniquity was revealed in greater detail in Isaiah 14
Isaiah 14:12-14, the 5 iniquities of pride (the 5 'I will' phrases), which are the 5 aims to defy God

1 Peter 5:5-6, being covered in humility is an act of the will- humbling oneself is an act of the will, which prevents pride from taking control of life
Proverbs 11:2, humility indicates practical experience (the English translation of 'wisdom' here, is applied knowledge), whereas pride brings shame when its disingenuous works are revealed

Proverbs 13:10, the prideful only bring strife, but wisdom will remain with the well-advised

[5. pride is selfish]
Habakkuk 2:4, pride reveals poor spiritual health and reveals that a person does NOT live by faith (only the lost live without faith in God)
