Officers responding to an apartment complex in the 8500 block of John T. White Road, Jan. 15.

A 911 caller told dispatchers a man was pointing guns at residents.

“Does he have any weapons? Yes, one. He has a gun?, Yes, yes, yes,” a caller told 911 dispatchers. Another caller said, “This guy is pointing a gun at our residents.”

Body camera footage showed an officer repeatedly ordering 42-year-old Deron Morris to drop his gun.

Fort Worth Police Chief Neil Noakes said the officer fired her gun at Morris, but the shots missed. The body cam video shows Morris moving closer to the officer despite her commands for him to stop and maintain his distance.

“I do believe the rounds that were fired may have prevented him from turning and firing,” Noakes said.
