PERSPECTIVE | Pakistan Current Political Situation

Pakistan is currently under a caretaker government following the dissolution of the National Assembly in August 2023. Caretaker governments are meant to oversee the country until new general elections are held. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was ousted from office in 2022 after a no-confidence vote, continues to be a significant political figure. His political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has faced both legal challenges and internal divisions, especially after Khan’s arrest and subsequent release in 2023 on corruption charges.
