As A Woman, How Do I Make Sure My Male Employees Respect Me?
Post-agrarian America has had a complex relationship with the workplace. Once, it was a place where men went 8 hours per day for 5 days a week with the promise of a 2 weeks of vacation once per year. It's morphed and twisted aggressively since then into something that our forefathers would barely recognize with different hours, rules, expectations and even, often, a physical product you can show off as fruit of your labor. And women. While our general recollection of the 50s is a gauzy memory of movies and TV from the era and about the era, it's likely safe to say there weren't many women or minorities in positions of power. While perfect equality and egalitarianism is still a long way away, sometimes the boss is a woman.
