Ryde Park Obelisk Cenotaph - Further Observations

A quick look at my interpretation of the markings on the ground that can be found at the Ryde War Memorial within Ryde Park Sydney.
What we find is an unusual horizontal obelisk at this monument, where in most cases, if not all, you will find an upright one. We also have a darken shaded area marked on the ground beneath this monument, which has left some researchers puzzled as to what this may represent, this also had me scratching my head for some time as well ..
