The Doctrine of Scripture Alone (Sola Scriptura) as a Response

It’s easy to show that the practice of what we Protestants today call “Scripture alone” or “Sola Scriptura,” was modeled by Jesus and then by his apostles after him. It’s not a “16th century idea,” it’s an idea upheld by the best of men and women, and even the best of legitimate councils and confessions, ever since the death of the apostles themselves. It’s valuable to return to this doctrine again and again as believers to show both what it is and also what it isn’t. The doctrine today was not born in a vacuum. It was born from neglect. It was born from ungodly additions to Christ’s church. From an awareness of improper innovation by many in Christian history. It is a recovery doctrine meant to preserve what the apostles lived and wrote of regarding true faith and its practice. I hope this talk is helpful.
