"If I cross a line, I ruin it." "Everything's such a mess right now..." Signature Ent. in the UK has debuted an official trailer for a sweet new British romantic comedy film called This Time Next Year, arriving on VOD in June this summer in the UK. No US date is set yet, and this hasn't played at any festivals either, despite looking pretty good. Minnie and Quinn are born on the same day, one minute apart, in the same hospital in London. Their lives may have begun together, but their worlds couldn't be more different now. Years later they find themselves bumping into each other again. Maybe it's time for her to finally take a chance on love. Lucien Laviscount (best known from Emily in Paris) and Sophie Cookson (from "Gypsy" & Infinite) star in this effervescent tale of romance, friendship and two separate lives destined to align. It's directed by acclaimed editor Nick Moore (who has edited many British classics including Notting Hill, About a Boy, Love Actually, Along Came Polly, Nanny McPhee, Wild Child). This looks charming! It's simple yet sweet.
Here's the official UK trailer (+ poster) for Nick Moore's This Time Next Year, from Signature's YouTube:

This Time Next Year Film
Flung together at a New Year's Eve party one year, Minnie (Sophie Cookson) & Quinn (Lucien Laviscount) quickly realise they share a connection - they were born on New Year’s Day of the same year, in the same London hospital. Minnie grew up convinced that this mysterious Quinn stole all her luck, setting her on a path of misfortune. Horrified at the misunderstanding, Quinn is set on making amends. But is it Quinn or is it fate that is scheming to bring the two together? Only time will tell... This Time Next Year is directed by acclaimed British film editor Nick Moore, director of the films Wild Child, Horrid Henry: The Movie, and Pudsey the Dog: The Movie previously, and an editor on many classics including Notting Hill, About a Boy, Love Actually, Along Came Polly, Nanny McPhee, and Morning Glory. The screenplay is written by Sophie Cousens. It's produced by Erika Hossington, Herbert Kloiber, and Giuliano Papadia. This hasn't premiered at any film festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. Signature Ent. will debut This Time Next Year direct-to-VOD in the UK starting June 3rd, 2024 this summer. No US release date is confirmed yet - stay tuned.
Last summer, This Time Next Year, a delightful rom-com starring Lucien Laviscount and Sophie Cookson, debuted in the U.K. Unfortunately, with no word of when it would get to fans in the U.S. at the time. Now, a new trailer for the movie has revealed that it is finally scheduled to land in the States very soon, starting Monday, February 10, and will be available exclusively on The Roku Channel.
Directed by Nick Moore, who is known for Notting Hill and Love Actually, This Time Next Year is adapted from Sophie Cousens’ novel of the same name. The film follows Quinn (Laviscount) and Minnie (Cookson), who coincidentally cross paths and realize they were born on the same day, one minute apart, in the same hospital. However, while their lives may have begun together, they have gone in different directions since that day.
Other stars included in the 2024 pic are John Hannah as Keith, Monica Dolan as Connie, Golda Rosheuvel as Tara, Mandip Gill as Leila, Will Hislop as Greg, Charlie Oscar as Fleur, Keala Settle as Bev and Jasmyn Banks as Younger Connie. It is produced by Night Train Media and BlackBox Multimedia. Producers include Erika Hossington with Giuliano Papadia for BlackBox Multimedia and Herbert L. Kloiber for Night Train Media.
Who Are the Lead Stars of 'This Time Next Year?'
Laviscount and Cookson are both stars from the U.K. who have been involved in multiple projects at home and abroad. After decades of acting, both on small and large screens, Laviscount’s fame skyrocketed when he was promoted to series regular in Season 3 of Emily in Paris. Mind you, he was already recurring in Season 2. He portrays Emily's love interest, Alfie, a banker from Britain, and most recently, it was reported that he will return as a series regular in the upcoming Season 5, which has no premiere date yet.
As for Cookson, she is well-known for her role as Roxy Morton, a.k.a. Lancelot, in the 2014 spy film Kingsman: The Secret Service and its 2017 sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle. She was also cast in a minor role in the 2016 film The Huntsman: Winter's War as the female huntsman Pippa. The following year, the actress appeared in Netflix’s Gypsy as troubled singer Sidney Pierce, but the series was canceled after one season.
Starting Monday, February 10, This Time Next Year will be available to viewers only on The Roku Channel. Stay tuned to Collider for further news ahead of its arrival, and check out its latest trailer above!

The film is based on the best-selling book by Sophie Cousens. It follows Minnie Cooper (Cookson) and Quinn Hamilton (Laviscount) as they reunite after their shared birth date, Jan. 1. Quinn, in fact, was the first baby born of the new year, and Minnie has always resented him because he took her name. The love-fate relationship that sparks between them gives the holiday a new meaning entirely.

“I’m thrilled to see this film launch in the US. I hope fans of the book will enjoy seeing the novel brought to life, and that a new audience will have the chance to fall in love with Minnie and Quinn’s story,” said Cousens, who wrote the screenplay for the film. “I grew up on the classic romantic comedies of the ’90s and early 2000s – these films are the reason I started to write, and as such, I always pictured This Time Next Year as a movie. To see it come to screen with such a talented cast and crew, has been a dream come true.”
The ensemble cast also features Golda Rosheuvel (Bridgerton). Rosheuvel will also lend her voice to narrate the U.S. version of the film. It’s directed by Nick Moore (Wild Child), the celebrated editor of legendary romantic comedies Love Actually and Notting Hill.

Though they entered the world on the same day, their worlds couldn’t be more different: Quinn seems to have his life figured out, while Minnie’s life is filled with an unfortunate series of events. Minnie grew up believing that her birthday was forever cursed because of a man she had never met — until they accidentally met each other during their thirtieth birthday.
“Flung together at a New Year’s Eve party, Minnie and Quinn quickly realize they share a connection — they were born on New Year’s Day of the same year, in the same London hospital, one minute apart,” the synopsis reads. “Minnie grew up convinced that this mysterious Quinn — born first — stole the name her mother planned for her, and with it all her luck, setting her on a path of misfortune. Horrified at the misunderstanding, Quinn is set on making amends. But is it Quinn or is it fate that is scheming to bring the two together?”
