Open.Ink is proud to announce the acquisition of exclusive rights to a massive 1-terabyte archive of January 6th (J6) footage, secured through the efforts of Executive Producers Jason Rink and Paul Escandon. This extensive collection is believed to be the largest privately held archive of J6 footage. Open.Ink invites the public to access this footage, with the hope that it will be used in legal cases and to provide a clearer understanding of what transpired at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

As part of this initiative, Open.Ink has featured a revised edition of the documentary “J6: A True Timeline”. This updated release includes never-before-seen video of Vice President Kamala Harris. According to Jason Rink, this revision offers a more comprehensive look at the day’s events.

"When we initially released 'J6: A True Timeline' on X (formerly Twitter) on January 1, 2024, we encouraged the public to scrutinize and contribute to our work," says Rink. "The feedback we received helped us refine the timeline, and the additional footage submissions allowed us to enhance the accuracy of our account. This updated version aims to stand as the definitive timeline of what occurred on January 6."

Thanks to the efforts of Rink and Escandon, the filmmaking team was able to secure funding to fully license crucial footage that previously fell under fair use, ensuring that the documentary adheres to the highest standards of documentary filmmaking. This footage, which was not available in the original release, has been meticulously reviewed over the past several months. Escandon adds:

"Our team has examined nearly 1TB of footage, including police body cam videos, Capitol CCTV footage, and hundreds of hours of citizen-generated content from January 6th. We believe this is one of the largest archives of January 6th footage in the hands of private citizens, and we are making it available for free to the public."

As America awaits Speaker of the House Mike Johnson’s release of the full J6 archive, Rink and Escandon are committed to ensuring transparency by making their library accessible. Since the initial release of the documentary, they have continued to investigate security decisions made by officials, decisions that appear to have exacerbated the chaos of that day.

Citing reporting from Jacob Crosse in April 2021, Rink highlights a key example: an email from then House Sergeant at Arms Paul Irving to Architect of the Capitol J. Brett Blanton requested the removal of "approximately 500 bike racks serving as security barricades" from critical locations, including 1st Street, NE and Constitution Avenue.
