The Battle of Sekigahara, fought on October 21, 1600, was a pivotal conflict that marked the end of Japan's Sengoku period. This decisive battle saw the forces of Tokugawa Ieyasu clash with those loyal to Ishida Mitsunari. Despite being outnumbered, Tokugawa's strategic acumen and the defection of key allies from Mitsunari's side led to a significant victory. The outcome established the Tokugawa shogunate, ushering in over 250 years of peace and stability during the Edo period, fundamentally transforming Japanese society and governance.
