Ray Chenez from Lockport is an Opera sensation
Growing up in Lockport, Ray Chenez always loved singing. It wasn't until he studied voice in college that he realized that he could hit some really high notes. He discovered his new register during his voice lesson at SUNY Fredonia. Ray say says "I kept singing higher and higher" and then his voice teacher told him "you should just be a countertenor". That moment in college launched Ray Chenez as a busy and popular opera singer in Europe. He has played both men and woman on stage and his work has been getting rave reviews and winning awards. He has an agent, steady work an a promising career. Opera News says of this up and coming star "he has a natural electric presence and his diction is precise no matter how high he sings." About tht review Ray smiles and says I was very happy with that one I have to say." His working on a new CD of show tunes he's calling "BroadRay" and raising funds to get it produced through Indigogo. He's love to go on tour with that CD and have a chance to return home for a visit to Western New York. You can check out Ray's fund raising page at here.
