Former Proud Boys extremist group leader Enrique Tarrio has been released from prison. FOX 4 News caught up with him at Love Field as he makes his way to Miami.
He's a person that keeps his promises. I knew, but like I wasn't 100 percent sure. But I know the president keeps his promises and I have faith in him.
Q: Were you surprised it went as far as it did?
No, absolutely not. I think the miscarriage of justice that happened in these cases, regardless if somebody agrees with putting their hands on a police officer or whatnot, how the process worked out was unfair. if you want to have a fair trial, take it outside of D.C. D.C. voted 93 percent for Biden. So, they needed a fair trial. So if we would've gotten a fair trial, I think I wouldn't be in a position where I needed a pardon. I would have been home free.
Q: So you're not denying that those cases, people should still be held accountable for those actions? you're not denying that they did some of those things?
I think they were held accountable. You know, they did their time, but that's it. But again, the process was... they shouldn't have gone through that process.  They should have taken those cases out of D.C.
Q: How do you think this changes the conversation about what happened that day going forward?
I don't think this changed the conversation. I think November 5th of last year changed the conversation. And I think America woke up and I think America made the right decision. It wasn't just for this, it was for all of us. For you guys, freedom of the press, freedom of speech. And I think it was a big win for America. So, America's back.
Q: What's your association at this point with Proud Boys?
We made a decision four years ago to not to tell the media what our structure is, but I suggest that the media should...should... stop calling me ex-Proud Boy leader.
Q: So you are still a leader?
That's the only comment I am going to give you.
Thank you guys, I am going to be in Miami.
Q: How's it feel to be free?
Breathing the free-man's air feels good.
