Armed man shot by Independence police

Officials say at least one Independence police officer shot a man Tuesday night after the suspect allegedly pulled a gun on the officer. Independence police spokesman Officer John Syme said officers pulled over a car at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday near Oak Hill Cluster and Missouri Highway 7. Syme the driver jumped out and ran. Officers said the man pulled out a gun during the chase and pointed it at them. At least one officer shot the man, according to Syme.
