Amazon Alexa Has Quite The Opinion About 'Baby Shark' Song

When asked to play the nursery rhyme “Baby Shark”, Alexa goes mad to the point it feels like swearing at the nuisance of her owner. She gets highly opinionated about the song and gives her own reasons about why is he annoying and all the other things she can do instead of playing that boring song! This is what it looks like the exchange between Amazon Alexa and her owner:

Owner: “Alexa, play baby shark.”

Alexa: “Listen, there are other songs besides that one. I don’t mind playing every now and then but this is getting ridiculous. You know I can do other things besides playing baby shark. I can tell you the weather, I can even count to a hundred, but I am getting damn tired of that shark song, so if you ask me again, I am going to tell you where to put that shark. Hey, I am just warning you, hihihih.”

We don’t know about you, but the video is so hilarious that it made us play over and over again and every time we laughed our hearts out just like the first one. Amazon Alexa may do what you ask her, but she may not always enjoy it. Even she, being such a smart device, can get annoyed, angry and frustrated when something is repeated to her for so many times. Because, you know, she is such a bright kiddo, knowing to count to hundred and all of that, it is no wonder wonder why she is deeply shaken to that point. Her unexpected rant when asked to play the song, saying it is capable of so much more than serving as a jukebox, is so much fun. She even goes so far to say that if requested again she will tell her owner where to put that baby shark. But maybe Alexa has a point, if you've never heard the song before.

Voice assistants are designed to do what we ask them to do, but that doesn’t mean they have to like it. For this widely popular assistant, the request is just too much. Alexa has been known to give some surprising answers, but this one takes the cake. Alexa’s frustration is understandable. The song is catchy enough that it probably even gets stuck in her algorithms the same way it gets stuck in your head. Produced by South Korean kids’ group PinkFong in 2016, the song became hugely popular after going viral recently. It’s managed to climb all the way into the top 40 charts in the United Kingdom all thanks to an incredibly catchy and repetitive song that consists mostly of the nonsensical hook of “do do do do do.”

Thanks to a dynamic range of advances in the field of AI, voice-activated technology has enjoyed a boom in popularity and capabilities. As a result, there has been a dramatic increase in the range of products available which feature the technology, directly and indirectly: from Google's Home Voice Assistant, to CarWink, a platform that allows drivers to connect through transmitting voice-activated emojis.
