Is Fluoride safe and effective treatment to fight tooth decay or just one big fat lie?
What if I told you there was a conspiracy theory that involved every dentist in the world as well as every school that taught dentists and every research company that studied dentistry and every government organization around dentistry.
You likely would call me crazy. You would argue, a conspiracy theory would never exist that involved that many people. How do you get them all to agree to lie to the public? Someone would come out as a whistle blower.
What if I told you that you can prove this conspiracy 100% using google, a few minutes of your day, and some common sense logical thinking.
Prove it you say?
Sodium Fluoride
The miracle chemical that strengthens teeth and prevents tooth decay! Google says “Sodium fluoride treatments at the dentist are generally healthy and can help prevent tooth decay!” That is fantastic! So lets see – is sodium fluoride good for you? Well google tells us that it is good for you if used as directed by a doctor or dentist to prevent tooth decay. However too much can cause serious health issues!
So, can Sodium Fluoride kill you? Google says that 5 to 10 grams can kill you!
But, there is such a small amount in toothpaste and those fluoride treatments, so, you should be ok, right?
Well Sodium Fluoride toxicity is cumulative over time. If exposed to even small amounts it can build up in the body. So, you brush your teeth 2 times a day with an average exposure of .25 grams of toothpaste each time and a 1% fluoride concentration puts total exposure annually at 1.85 grams of fluoride.
Now mouthwash if you have fluoride mouthwash daily at 1 oz per day at .25% fluoride concentration that would be 28 grams per ounce would be .07 grams of fluoride per day in just mouthwash. Or 25.55 grams annually.
Then remember fluoride is in drinking water, as well as the store bough drinks like monster or Gatorade that are packaged in a city with city treated water. Average person per google drinks 44 ounces of liquid per day, though many do drink more, we will just go with that amount. Fluoride treated water has roughly .56 grams in it per gallon, 128 ounces per gallon makes 44 ounces contain .1904 grams of fluoride swallowed daily.
So, if you swallow your toothpaste and your mouthwash, you get 100% of that daily amount, but remember, the whole purpose they put it in there is because they want you to swallow it so your body can absorb it and prevent your teeth from decaying.
So lets take the 1.85 grams annually from toothpaste and estimate that you absorb 5 percent of that, that is .0925 grams absorbed annually, mouthwash we will estimate 5% as well and that would be 25.55 grams annually or 1.2775 grams absorbed annually, and then the .1904 grams swallowed in the water directly daily would be 69.496 grams annually which brings the total just from these 3 methods up to 70.886 grams annually absorbed, not including the amount the doctor scrubs directly onto your teeth if you elect for the fluoride treatment which they recommend every 6 months! Then remember – 5-10 grams is considered toxic and toxicity is cumulative over time.
Now schools, science, research, and everyone involved teach dentists that sodium fluoride is safe, it is not dangerous, and it strengthens tooth enamel. Dentists generally believe that sodium fluoride is safe. Ask your dentist if fluoride is toxic or dangerous and they will likely get angry, upset, or argue that there is no evidence it is dangerous and the levels they use are so low that they pose no threat.
So how did they discover that fluoride strengthens teeth?
Lets read a little here to show the story.
Fluoride research had its beginnings in 1901, when a young dental school graduate named Frederick McKay left the East Coast to open a dental practice in Colorado Springs, Colorado. When he arrived, McKay was astounded to find scores of Colorado Springs natives with grotesque brown stains on their teeth. So severe could these permanent stains be, in fact, sometimes entire teeth were splotched the color of chocolate candy. McKay searched in vain for information on this bizarre disorder. He found no mention of the brown-stained teeth in any of the dental literature of the day. Local residents blamed the problem on any number of strange factors, such as eating too much pork, consuming inferior milk, and drinking calcium-rich water.
This finding sent Dean's thoughts spiraling in a new direction. He recalled from reading McKay's and Black's studies on fluorosis that mottled tooth enamel is unusually resistant to decay. Dean wondered whether adding fluoride to drinking water at physically and cosmetically safe levels would help fight tooth decay. This hypothesis, Dean told his colleagues, would need to be tested. In 1944, Dean got his wish. That year, the City Commission of Grand Rapids, Michigan-after numerous discussions with researchers from the PHS, the Michigan Department of Health, and other public health organizations-voted to add fluoride to its public water supply the following year. In 1945, Grand Rapids became the first city in the world to fluoridate its drinking water. The Grand Rapids water fluoridation study was originally sponsored by the U.S. Surgeon General, but was taken over by the NIDR shortly after the Institute's inception in 1948. During the 15-year project, researchers monitored the rate of tooth decay among Grand Rapids' almost 30,000 schoolchildren. After just 11 years, Dean- who was now director of the NIDR-announced an amazing finding. The caries rate among Grand Rapids children born after fluoride was added to the water supply dropped more than 60 percent. This finding, considering the thousands of participants in the study, amounted to a giant scientific breakthrough that promised to revolutionize dental care, making tooth decay for the first time in history a preventable disease for most people.
So what did this Grand Rapids Michigan study look at.
Well they looked at the rate of tooth decay in children over 15 years after fluoride was added to the city water supply, they looked at 30,000 children, and saw tooth decay drop by 60% in children and 35% in adults. Did they look at what foods the kids had in their diet or how much sugar the kids ate or how much milk the kids drank or any other items? Nope! All they looked at was rate of decay before fluoride, and rate of decay after.
Without looking at any other factors that could have played a role in the tooth decay, without comparing the rates in a double blind study, or any other information besides “tooth decay went down and we added fluoride to the water” I would argue that this shows lack of internal validity. They did not prove that fluoride did anything. Note, High internal validity is crucial for research to ACCURATELY claim that the observed effect is directly caused by the manipulated variable and NO OTHER EXTRANEOUS FACTORS. Other factors like selection bias, history effects, maturation, testing effects, and instrumentation errors can all contribute to a lack of internal validity.
Note, for bones to develop with these minerals, the body must be exposed to the minerals at early ages. 0 – 8 is the best range to have an effect on the teeth of adult, specifically in their 6th year of life. Note, excessive fluoride intake can lead to a condition called dental fluorosis causing discoloration of tooth enamel. Now I do not know about you, but I think we all know someone whose teeth are not white, they are off white, or even brown. We all know people who don’t smoke, don’t drink a lot of tea or coffee, yet their teeth are stained. And what do we see every day on youtube adds or social media? That purple teeth cleaner that cancels out that yellow stain on your teeth, That yellow stain that just happens to match a condition known as dental fluorosis which is a cause of having excessive fluoride intake. Fluoride intake which is cumulative over time. Fluoride intake which is toxic.
So , what is the average rate of tooth decay in people today? You would think that it would be very low with the fluoride in water and toothpastes, with our better hygiene overall and better medical knowledge. But it is estimated that in children, 45.8% of them have tooth decay and adults roughly 90% of adults experiencing tooth decay.
Remember, that Grand Rapids study, The caries Rate dropped more than 60%. So that means there was 60% less tooth decay as tooth decay is called the caries rate when looking at the population.
Google says that the 1900 caries rate was extensive and common. I do not know about you, but if the adult caries rate in 2020 is 90%, I would call that pretty extensive and common. That means 9 out of 10 people have tooth decay. So what was extensive in 1900? 100%? AI Cannot even provide an estimated percent.
So lets do the math. If we have a 45.8% of tooth decay in kids currently. And the amount reported now is 60% less than it was in the Grand Rapids study, then that means the rate of tooth decay before fluoridation was 73.28% in children.
Now take into consideration that fluoride in children will lower their IQ. Fluoride is also considered a neurotoxin that causes decreased intelligence in children. They are required to wear hazmat suits to even handle fluoride in the treatment plants!
So why do dentists lie? Well, I like to believe most doctors have our best interest at heart. When they go to school they are taught what to do, what is safe, and how to read these studies. There is a huge issue with compartmentalization in organizations like NIH, CDC, FDA, and that fissures on down to research companies, drug companies, universities, all the way down to the students and the dentists themselves. Compartmentalization has huge effects across the board and at the end of the day. This leads to irrefutable harms with medical applications such as adding a neurotoxin to drinking water.
I hope you look into filtration systems for your house and your family. Remember Matthew 24:4 “Take heed that no man deceive you.” God bless.
