TRUMPS OPENING SPEECH: INAUGURATION DAY 47TH PRESIDENT!

With his return to the White House as the 47th president, Trump, 78, becomes only the second commander-in-chief to serve non-consecutive terms, after Grover Cleveland in the late 19th century.

Unlike the inauguration of Joe Biden four years ago, held during the Covid pandemic and in the shadow of the riot at the US Capitol by Trump supporters days before, hopes were high that the event would return to its full pageantry this year. However, brutally cold temperature forecasts forced a relocation of the ceremony from the National Mall to the Capitol Rotunda.

Trump posted on his Truth Social on Friday: “January 20 cannot come fast enough! Everybody, even those that initially opposed a victory by President Donald J Trump and the Trump administration, just want it to happen. It is my obligation to protect the people of our country but, before we even begin, we have to think of the inauguration itself.
