What's best for splitting wood? Wedge vs Splitting maul.

In this test, the wedge outperformed the maul, I have split many other of these wide, knotty, ash rounds, and the wedge always did better. The wedge is not always the best choice though, like if you were splitting some straight grained wood, the maul would work fine, the wedge is pretty much for the knottier, bigger, more twisted rounds.
